Educators talk about ABCs.
Nonprofit leaders talk about sustainability.
Policymakers talk about getting bang for the buck.
CEOs talk about being built to last.
It’s all about the infrastructure.
I’m just back from a quick road trip that took me zipping along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. It’s one of my favorite roads. The 1940s tollbooth / service plaza / tunnel entrance design is early-automobile-travel cool. The road gradients are very gradual, designed specifically to keep speeding drivers safe. And the tunnels, conceived to take advantage of existing abandoned railroad tunnels to move cars through the central Pennsylvania mountains, are amazing.
70+ years later, the turnpike is still doing its job.
Does your business have the right infrastructure in place for the long haul?
